BARCELONA CITY COUNCIL AND MANGO PROMOTE THE BARCELONA BRAND

The Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, and the Chairman of MANGO, Isak Andic, today signed an agreement between the City Council and the Catalan multinational from the fashion sector.
Through this agreement, MANGO will include the Barcelona brand in its graphic image and on some of its products, in order to associate the image of the multinational with the image of the city, in the same way that other fashion brands have associated themselves with the city of Barcelona and other fashion capitals.
This initiative is part of a management and promotional programme which Barcelona City Council has implemented to consolidate and position the Catalan capital as a reference within the circuit of international capitals.
For Jordi Hereu, the city’s Mayor, the signing of this agreement is another step towards linking the Barcelona brand with international references of renowned prestige and innovation. For Barcelona, fashion is an important aspect of its economy and culture, since our city is a reference in training and development for fashion. Through this initiative, the city is delighted to institutionalise the link between the Barcelona name and a Catalan company like MANGO, which is internationally renowned for its innovative character. It is further proof of the projection and guarantees offered by the city of Barcelona, undoubtedly a valued asset.
For his part, Isak Andic, the Chairman of MANGO, declared: For us, as a company founded in this city that we love so much, it is a privilege to display the Barcelona name around the world. Although MANGO is present in over 90 countries, associating our brand with the Barcelona name is way of not forgetting where we started out and of projecting the city’s potential across all five continents.
One of the areas of action of the City Council’s economic policy, and a fundamental tool for the city’s development, is to promote the city as a fashion brand through Catalan firms within the sector. Without doubt, Catalonia and Barcelona have become economic driving forces and references of development thanks to the industry of the fashion and design sector.
Consequently, the City Council sees MANGO as a pioneer within the city’s fashion sector, something closely linked to prestige and quality of Barcelona.
MANGO is an internationally famous multinational which designs, manufactures and markets women’s and men’s clothing and accessories. One of the keys to its success is its capacity to innovate in its designs.
