During the event, Oscar de la Renta received the Botón de Oro as a lifelong achievement award. Moreover, a prize money of 300.000 euros was presented to the young South Korean designer Jin Youn Lee, winner of El Botón-MANGO Fashion Awards. He created a collection of 10 articles, inspired by the works of Michelangelo, the corsets of the 19th century and the torsos of the mid-19th century.

In addition to the winning collection, special mention should be made of the proposals of the other 9 finalists: Jean Pierre Braganza (United Kingdom), Silvia García Presas (Spain), Josh Goot (Australia), Jaeha Alex Kim (New Zealand), the duos formed by Miriam Lehle & Sabina Egler (Germany), Peter Pilotto & Christopher de Vos and Aleksandar Stanic & Fiona Sinha (both duos resident in the United Kingdom), Jakub Polanka (Czech Republic) and Christian Wijnants (Belgium). All the collections were exhibited at Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia until 2 May.

The Jury of the competition, chaired by Oscar de la Renta, was made up of various celebrities from the fashion world: the multi-talented Nina Garcia, Director of Marie Claire US magazine, Laura Larbalestier, from the Purchasing Department of Selfridges, Armand Hadida, manager of the prestigious Parisian boutique L’Éclaireur, the Director and cool hunter of Rinascente, Tiziana Cardini, the acclaimed fashion consultant, Jean Jacques Picatt, Verónica Blume, one of Spain’s most internationally famous models, Jerry Hall, the famous model of the 80s, the winners of the first edition of the competition, Sandrina Fasoli & Michaël Marson, the photographer of the moment, Mariano Vivanco, Isak Andic, the Chairman of MANGO, and Nicolás Olivé, Board Member-Deputy General Manager of the firm.

A luxury cast modelled the MANGO proposals for the forthcoming Autumn/Winter 09-10: Amparo Bonmatí, Flavia Lucini, Hanna Rundlof, Marina Pérez, Teresa Baca, Gabriel Pérez, Helge, Jesper Lund and Nicolás Ripoll, among others.

For the forthcoming season, and under the name of HEROES, MANGO presented a collection with proposals in which the MANGO woman gains power and strength by adding clear 1980s influences to her wardrobe. Shoulder lines are accentuated on suit jackets and outer garments, while in lower garments, the silhouette becomes narrower, with slim-fit trousers, biker trousers, leggings and pencil skirts. For its part, the men’s collection HE Homini Emerito presents a structured silhouette with details such as breast pockets, epaulettes, pleats, double buttons, shields, elbow patches and Mao necks. Furthermore, the North American designer Adam Lippes is once again collaborating with us and is designing two collections, one for men and one for women. For women, the Adam for MANGO collection has a clear 80s influence, while giving the garments a certain timeless and exclusive air. For men, Adam for HE is a casual collection with a 50s air.
