2nd we presented our new Spring-Summer ‘10 collection, Pure Light, at Swissôtel - The Bosphorus, one of the most emblematic hotels in the city. Model Marie-Ange Casta was the special guest of the show. She is already very familiar with our brand, as she appeared in last season’s catalogue alongside Scarlett Johansson, current face of the brand. Marie-Ange, the younger sister of French supermodel Laetitia Casta, made her modelling debut last season with the MANGO campaign. Demet Şener appeared on the catwalk followed by Turkish supermodels such as Ece Sükan and Hande Subaşı. Season after season, our fashion shows have attracted the cream of Turkish high society and are one of the most important events in Istanbul.

Our new collection combines natural and simple silhouettes, while experimenting with contrast and volume. The result takes us back to the years of the “new look”, to a Mediterranean trip where blues and greys are mixed with whites, natural tones and touches of red. This apparently nautical retro style, which combines stripes and spots, transforms into a modern urban look with the inclusion of sportswear elements, either in terms of shape or special fabrics, or with comfortable and loose-fitting clothes, at times more emphasised at the waist.

Inevitably, this search for comfort and functionality leads us to elements from the masculine wardrobe: more fluid suits that contrast with very feminine shapes featuring draping, gathering and pleating.

To help raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, international actress Scarlett Johansson has designed a solidarity handbag for our brand. From now and while stocks last, this handbag will be available in the more than 1,400 MANGO stores worldwide. Part of the profits will be donated to the NGO Oxfam International (Intermón Oxfam in Spain).

Supporting the people of Haiti

The print on the handbag represents the ancient cartography of Haiti, and contains the message “Supporting the people of Haiti” written and signed by the actress.

On this matter, Scarlett Johansson said: “I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Mango to promote conscious consumerism and to benefit Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. By purchasing this bag, which I specially designed, you are helping to provide life saving assistance like clean water to the people of Haiti.”
