For the new Autumn/Winter ‘09 season, MANGO’s menswear line, HE Homini Emerito, has an outstanding ambassador, the young British actor Max Irons.

At just 23, Irons is making a name for himself in London theatre. He recently made his debut on the stage, a starring role in Wallenstein, a thriller by Friedrich Schiller, while starring in the film Dorian Gray, alongside the British actor Colin Firth. The son of actor parents, he has inherited the elegance and talent of his father, Jeremy Irons, and his passion for the theatre from his mother, the renowned Irish actress Sinéad Cusack, and from his famous grandfather, Cyril Cusack.

During the photo shoot, which took place in Barcelona last May under the direction of the Italian photographer Francesco Carrozzini, Max revealed his more amusing side, making it an agreeable experience for the entire team. In spite of the fact that he is fully committed to his acting career, this is not the first time he has lent his image to a fashion brand. A few seasons ago, he participated in the Burberry campaign alongside Kate Moss, shot by the photographer Mario Testino.

The new HE collection is a reflection of the latest trends in men’s fashion: a structured silhouette with details (such as breast pockets, epaulettes, pleats, double buttons, coats of arms, elbow patches and Mao necks), which are applied to fabrics such as velvet. To complete the look, certain elements have been borrowed from uniforms, for example utilitarian, military and English school uniforms. The colour palette contrasts different tones of grey and green with touches of livelier tones such as redcurrant, aubergine or cobalt blue. Also present are natural and marine tones, which combine with touches of red. The HE man enjoys nature, and therefore has a more relaxed air and returns to the most elemental values. The collection features find thick tricot garments in aran, corduroy and double fabrics. Without overlooking the important role played by jeans.

The HE collection, aimed at the young fashion conscious male, is on sale in 117 MANGO stores in 17 countries and there are stores exclusively dedicated to the menswear collection in cities such as Ankara, Annecy, Barcelona, Dubai, Madrid, Santander, Toulouse and Valencia.

The collection, for men and women, will go on sale at all the firm’s stores worldwide

The Adam Lippes Limited Edition for MANGO

The Adam Lippes Limited Edition for MANGO

The acclaimed North American designer has created two collections, one for men and another for women, consisting of around 20 models. Jeans, outer garments, t-shirts, trousers and dresses with a contemporary air combined with a 70s touch make up the collection. Both collections are at our stores.

For women, under the name Adam for MANGO, Lippes is presenting a very urban collection which combines elements for daywear and for special occasions with a Halston look, flowing dresses featuring prints and an irregular hand-made finish, degraded stripes with sequins and enclosing sack forms.

The menswear collection, Adam for HE, with a nod towards New York, is made up of versatile garments with a mixture of classic and casual elements predominated by fabrics with a timeless air and clean-cut tight forms, with a particular interest in details on linen, cotton and fine wool fabrics. It features a Prince of Wales suit in grey tones, printed shirts and leather jackets. The basic colours are blues and greys with touches of deep yellow, stone and purple.

Both collections have been presented to the international press and were warmly received. Last week the presentation took place at the luxurious Gramercy Hotel in New York, whereas this week it was held in Paris.

Until 2003, Adam Lippes was the Creative Director of Óscar de la Renta and is now the Chairman and Founder of the firm Adam by Adam Lippes. With regard to his collaboration with MANGO, he said: For me, it is an honour to collaborate with MANGO on this project. They have an extraordinary team, and when I visited their central offices, I was really impressed. MANGO is famous for its attention to quality and manufacture, concepts I value too. I am delighted with the international projection this collaboration will give my designs.

The fact that this Limited Edition also includes menswear simply reinforces MANGO’s interest in appealing to a male public, without overlooking the fact that women remain its main target.

An increasing number of people visit the online store to do their shopping. Thanks to the website, the 713,000 users registered so far, 26% more than last year, have found a convenient and practical way to purchase items from the MANGO collection. 11,000 orders are now placed every month.

One of the reasons for such a high number of visitors and orders is its vast geographical coverage, since it distributes in 32 European countries, as well as in the United States and Canada. What is more, delivery is free above a certain minimum order quantity and customers can return goods to their stores.  Also, those familiar with the brand dispose of a wide range of products, since they have access to the entire season collection, including special collections. Delivery is usually between 2 and 3 working days.

The HE Homini Emerito collection has also recorded an increase in online sales since it was launched in March 2008. The new projects for this year include enlarging the section of this collection, in order to adapt it to the men’s market.

Another development will take place in the Outlet section, whose sales accounted for 35% of the total sales, which will be presented in a more functional and user-friendly way. However, the major new development this year is undoubtedly the project to bring Mangoshop.com to China.
